Jeff and I were talking yesterday about how rain always seems to fall on the weekends or when we have some where we want to go or something we want to do. Never fails...Friday afternoon it clouds up and BOOM! it's raining. This happened the last two Fridays! Last night we had a tractor pull in Melvin, Iowa. It was raining in Madison when we left at 3:30. We still took off, not knowing if the rain would follow us or if it would just go away! Well needless to say...it followed us. It was like it was on the same path we were. We just kept driving...2 hours later it was still raining and we got to our destination. Driving though town we discovered TONS of standing water. Wondering what the track looked like...we pressed on. The entry way into the track was a wet, muddy mess...the grass was all chewed up. We were just happy we weren't the only crazy people that made the journey! The rain continued on and on for what seemed like forever. They worked the track and finally seemed to be getting it cleaned up when another bout of rain hit! It wouldn't give up...the rain was fighting us and it seemed to be winning. But in the end we WON..we beat the rain! Jeff was the first guy to pull on the very sticky track...he was the only tractor in both his 6700 lb. class and his 7500 lb. class...so he got two 1st places! As we were leaving that night at around 11:30pm...about 2 miles from Melvin...the rain decided to start up again. It rained most of the way home. Don't get me wrong...rain is good but there is some truth to the old saying..."It always rains on my parade!" Well we have another "parade" today at 4...hopefully the weather holds out and Jeff can get two 1st places again! More to come!
