We left Kearney, NE at around 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 14th. Driving through Nebraska was pretty boring except for the constant train traffic. I think we saw a train every 5 to 10 minutes! They have HUGE cattle yards down there too so that was pretty impressive. We got into Colorado around 1:30 p.m. (their time) and ate at Village Inn in a city who's name escapes me at the moment. After lunch I was getting all excited about getting to our cabin. I wasn't very impressed with the first part of Colorado (it looked just like Nebraska...very FLAT). So when we got closer to Loveland, CO Jeff pointed out the mountains in the distance! I was EXCITED but really couldn't see them all that great because it was cloudy that day. But you could still see the mountain range in the distance.
We drove on some very curvy roads all the way to our cabin. We couldn't get into our
cabin until after 3 so we timed it just perfect. The speed limit on those curvy roads is about 45 (if you dare). We were going slower then that trying to take all the scenery in. It was BEAUTIFUL driving through 
the mountains! I'm sure the locals get sick of all the tourist going so slow but we didn't care...we would pull over on one of those Slow vehicle Pull Offs and let the traffic by. We didn't want to miss a thing!
We finally got to the cabin at round 3:30 or so and ended up driving past it a few times :)! We had the assumption that it was up in the mountains by itself but it turns out it was just off the main road and clumped there with a bunch of other cabins. After we figured out which one was ours we took our all stuff in and made ourselves at home. The cabin was AWESOME!! It was so cozy, charming and felt like home.
Jeff and I kept saying that we could live here...it was PERFECT!! After unpacking and snooping around the cabin we drove into Estes Park to the Safeway grocery store to pick up some food 
for us to eat while we were staying at the cabin. We bought a bunch of stuff to grill out and had decided earlier on that our first meal at the cabin that night would be Steak and baked potatoes. Yum! We bought all our supplies and headed back to the cabin. Jeff made wonderful 
steak on the grill that night and after all the traveling we decided we needed to just relax and hang out. We relaxed in the hot tub out on the back deck and took in the fresh mountain air. We had mountains right in our back yard...very COOL!! We decided to start our site seeing on Sunday. The next post I'll talk about Estes Lake and driving through the mountains.
